Fly Fishing Report for 2016-03-19

Illinois opened up the Catch and Release Fly Fishing season before they open up the actual spring season. The catch and release fly fishing season is a great time to practice some skills or teach some one to fly fish. I landed 12 in a couple hours and missed so many more. Two were over 15". Red San Juan worm and Olive Wooly Bugger were the two patterns that worked well for me. If you want to catch more numbers but smaller fish, then drift a nymph like a scud under and indicator and you will easily catch double digits.
